My wife and I decided to try Branson MO out over the Labor day weekend. We left the morning of Friday September 4th 2015. Coming out of Memphis there are basically 2 routes, one is mostly freeway and the other scenic, wasn’t hard figure out which one to take.
Rolling up through the Arkansas mountains heading towards Branson was absolutely beautiful, winding tree lined roads on Hwy 63 and Hwy 160 and the last 2 hours of the 6 hour ride were stunning. I would consider this a must ride if you ever have the opportunity.
This was our first visit, we stayed at the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing, awesome hotel and we had a perfect view of the square and the lake from the room. Tons of things to do there, the square offers free bands on Friday and Saturday nights. Great restaurants and bars within walking distance of the hotel.
So after a 6 hour ride Friday, free band and many cocktails my wife signed us up for a 7 am 5K race on Saturday morning, I know I probably cursed her under my breath at the start but glad we ran it. We also took in a Eagles tribute band show that night at the Tribute Theater, great venue and inexpensive. Tons of show to see if you chose.
Things to do in Branson – Branson official website http://www.branson.com/ -Eats, Montana Mikes Steak House, Big Whiskies, Cantina Laredo, Waxy O’Sheas Irish Pub and Ernie Biggs Dueling Piano Bar were some of the cool places we ate or had drinks at during our trip. There are 3 lakes as well and we rode around Table Rock Lake on Sunday.
To wind this up, if you have an opportunity to visit Branson, I’d would certainly recommend it, better yet do this on a bike so you can also ride the local countryside, you wont regret it.
Ride safe and enjoy !!!!!!!
